So I had my PC parts all picked out and I'm about to buy my new computer, until I came across a crazy rig on craigslist.

Here is the PC i was about to buy (Order all the parts new) https://pcpartpicker.com/user/daiv/saved/TJGTWZ

Here is the used PC I just found (He says its barely used) ( this is just a partpicker list so that you can see the price):  https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3FZ2Gf

His price is $1200 USD for the whole thing, which is only 100 dollars more for alot better parts

if it's too good to be true it's not true or the poster has reasons, if you want to take the safe route get the ryzen system or get the1080, if you want to take a risk.

It seems 400 of normal price and the fact that it seems like a brand new computer (since it has a 1080 which was just released a couple months ago), I think it might be too good to be true, but at the same time, I sorta want to find out

I'd try and remove the SSD from the price of the Craiglist machine. Used storage drives are generally a no-no.

arrange a meeting at a safe place like your local library.

Go, run stress tests + a few demanding games and see if it works as expected.  If it does, buy it

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

SSDs tend to be pretty safe in terms of being used compared to a HDD. I have bought plenty of used SSDs and havent had any problems.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn't mean it's not risky.

You're only so limited with how long a SSD lasts.

well I've got a pair of 5-6 year old drives in my main rig i bought used for 2 years, they work perfectly fine now but i sure as hell won't recommend it for reliability reasons.

Used ssds are fine, just don't put anything on them you don't want to risk losing and format them before using them for anything, preferably from an OS installation media.

But as long as the craigslist person will let you test the system before you pay for it there's really no reason not to go for it. If they won't let you test it it's practically guaranteed that there's issues they're trying to hide
