Desk LED's connected to motherboard

Ok looking for ideas so I have one of those cheap RGB setups with 2 coils of LED's and the controller, less the controller setup anybody connect their desk LED's to their motherboard? I know I'm restricted by the length just curious before I start cutting strips to fit the desk. I do also have a pack of extender/connector cables and 2 rgb splitter cables so I do have options. I have 2 rgb headers on board but 1 is used already for the case. Thinking it would be cool with the music option integrated on the desk.

You can use the RGB header on the motherboard and extend it out of the case for desk lights to match, just remember that the headers on the motherboard have a certain amperage rating and you cannot exceed it, this should be noted inside the motherboard manual.

Cool yeah I have an extension cable to come of of the case always fun when I find an excuse to break out the dremel , I decided to split it into 2 circuits one will be on the controller and one on the board as I am limited to 2 meters per header and one of them is already populated with case RGB thanks for the advice!
