Technically you only really need enough for your OS (For it to boot into the OS, 20GB I think), but I would highly recommenced getting something larger to store some programs as it would make it so much more responsive for everyday use.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

250-500GB because you don't want to waste money on a tiny SSD just for your OS, that will literally not improve your experience at all other than making boot time shorter.

You want enough space to put often used files and programs on it too.

32GB wouldn't work.  There is a lot more to Windows than what's in the Windows directory.  For instance, you've got cache, the hibernation file, the pagefile, all default programs (the default Windows Store apps take up 2GB alone), system restore points, and more.  Then there are files created by programs you install.  Even if you install everything (except Windows of course) on a different drive, all of those programs will still create files on your boot drive (mostly in the ProgramData and AppData folders).  Then you have programs like Chrome and Microsoft Office that simply WON'T install anywhere but your boot drive.

TL;DR Unless you want to be constantly cleaning out temporary files, 120GB is the absolute minimum you should go for.  240GB is better for peace of mind.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

If you want to go cheap and only have the OS.  around 30 Gigabytes.  However, you want good performance, so I'd opt for an SSD which is around 400 Gigabytes, then have like a 2 terabyte hard drive for all my video files, et cetera.....

Plus a 3 terabyte backup drive which is stored somewhere else, like at the office or your mom's house.

*Yeah, so that would be a pretty optimal storage configuration.

Min 120GB. If you have the money, get a 240GB one.

I bought a 120 for my boot drive, and I regret not getting 250gb. Stuff piles up that you wound't think because thinks save on you C drive that you wouldn't expect and it's a pain to change

256 GB is the minimum that I would recommend for a boot drive, as you would want frequently used applications on there to, not just the OS.

This would fit your budget.  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820173151&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Solid+State+Disk-_-N82E16820173151&gclid=Cj0KEQjw0v_IBRCEzKHK0KiCrKMBEiQA3--1NtY3GaCl7BtnOngB-CbZXB_6oL58Uts0f9wEp5vWE1kaAoRT8P8HAQ

If you could spend a little more, I have had good experiences with Samsung's 850 EVO series.
