So as the topic says, looking to upgrade from a i3 4330 to above said CPUs.

I'm mostly working in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, mostly image editing and exporting. As i was reading i see that LR and PS are mostly using multi threads. so my question is, do i need the more thread count from ryzen and is there a difference between these CPUs in overall performance.
Mostly thinking about it since i have to sell my whole build basically to switch to ryzen, which i might lose about 100~200 euros :|

4790, hands down.

Does your motherboard support Haswell Refresh through a BIOS update?

Is the rest of your system good with Photoshop, i.e. RAM, disks, etc.?

I'd say Ryzen, as it's a 4c/8t CPU that's probs cheaper, and you can OC.

keep in mind that he would need to change mobo and RAM too in that scenario.

i would definitely go for the 4790, it's  still a beastly chip!

how would that be cheaper as he would have to buy a new Mb and ram on top of a CPU ?

Agree with @ARikozuM look around for a 4790, Don't get the 4790K as Im guessing you won't have a Z87/97 mb.

Yeah people seem to treat CPU's like Graphics cards, hell my old 3770 is still kicking ass.

Get 4790K if you want to stay in DDR3 ages

The 4790 over the 1600x, hands down. Significantly cheaper to just get a new i7 compatible with your current mobo and RAM, rather than having to buy a new CPU, Mobo, and RAM. Plus, you should be able to get a Haswell(Refresh) i7 fairly well priced, especially if you buy used. Get a 4770k or 4790k if you can though, since they have substantially higher clock speeds than the locked SKUs, which is definitely beneficial. Otherwise, just get a Xeon E3-1230 V3 or something instead of a locked i7. The Xeon will be cheaper than the locked i7, but perform EXACTLY the same, you just lose the iGPU.

I  currently have a h97-plus MOB and I'm not even looking to OC the CPU, but I'll go for the 4790K since the price difference is like 30-50 euros :)
Thanks for the tips, looking now to order the CPU! :D

it would be wasted on the H97, as H doesn't allow any changes to the K. only Z.

But if you want it :)
