PS+ Not Needed For Destiny Online Content Anymore??

So I just got around to finally purchasing Destiny. I grabbed the collection from the Playstation store yesterday and was playing all day today, assuming that I couldn't play any of the PVP stuff or online content that specifically says PS+ is required, and decided to play a PVP match and see if it would work. Well shit, it works. And so does all the other stuff that says PS+ is required yet I do not or have never had a Playstation Plus subscription. So has Bungie ever said anything about how a PS+ account isn't required at all now recently?? Does anybody else own Destiny without a PS+ account able to use all of the online content too??

Unless they added it in later PS+ was never required for destiny. I was playing at launch and I've never had a PS+ account. A regular Playstation ID was enough.

Weird. The Strike Missions and all those extra PVP modes all say "PS+ Required" lol. Almost paid $60 for a yearly subscription. Same thing for Bloodborne too I noticed on my PS4...never had a PS+ account and I can do all the online stuff too.
