Hello,

So I had a spare SSD lying around from an old laptop that doesn't work anymore. It had windows 10 on it, and so I would like to move over that SSD to another computer (that's used). I tried simply plugging it in and hoping it would work, but the computer didn't boot or even post.

I'm assuming the OS on the SSD is not recognizing the new hardware.

What should I do in order to get the SSD to become compatible with the new computer?

Thanks!

I don't care about the files, no. However, I do wish to continue using that Windows 10, since I paid for the license (I upgraded that laptop from a HDD to a SSD, and buying a new copy of windows 10).

Best bet, stick in in a already exsiting PC, and use Produkey, Point it to the SSD Windows file and run it, it should pull your windows Key, Than just do a fresh reinstall that will always give the best performance

Oh okay, so just re-install windows, and once it asks me to activate Windows, I will use the windows key that I pulled off of my SSD using Produkey?

With windows 10 you're supposed to link your key to a microsoft account and then log into that account on a new PC for it to be activated.

You can't really make a microsoft account now since your old laptop doens't work...

No guarantee that the key method will work, but even if it doesn't you can still use windows 10 without activating it.
