Cinebench 6800K low scores?

Hi,

 

I've been overclocking my 6800K down and up 'cause I noticed that Cinebench scores are terrible. For instance: I overclocked 6800K to 4.3Ghz (stable) and I benchmarked it in Cinebench and I only got 1138 score, whereas I should be getting around 1300. What is happening?

do you have all drivers up to date?

do you have any background tasks running during benchmark?

Literally turned on PC and whatever turns itself on during startup that's on. Steam etc.

I believe everything is up to date.

 

On YT I seen people get 1088 on STOCK and mine is at 4.3Ghz.

turn all background tasks off, everything including steam.

Woah, that helped. Wonder why? Now I got 1325 at 4.3Ghz.

much as I love steam, it's not very good at managing background tasks.

Temps are also weird, under full load it never goes above 70, while using H115i. I guess I should put it back at 4.5Ghz.

careful, 6800k is not that good at overclocking, don't push your voltage over 1.39v.

You should always close background tasks when benching. 

 

too many noobs in the cinebench and valley threads have a whole myriad of programs open. Chrome, Steam, OBS, Vegas. All have to go off.

Also, an unstable overclock will produce scores that are substantially lower than a stable one at a lower frequency. Keep that in mind. Just because you pushed the clocks higher doesn't mean it's going to handle it well. It might be stable enough to run and work, but not enough to actually provide better performance.

I gave it 1.45V at 4.4Ghz and temps seem to be around 80-85 on average tested and stable. 1360 Cinebench score. A little too hot, 'cause 80 or lower is where I am comfortable with but I might lower it down to 4.3Ghz at 1.4V just until I sell the mobo and CPU.

Also at 4.4Ghz 1.45V it sits in games at around 45C all the time, so it's fine.

I am 99% sure you don't sit at 45*C under full load in games for that CPU. Wait an hour or two and then report back. Immediate temps after 5 minutes of gaming are not conclusive enough for "gaming load" scenarios.

 

AIO coolers will get as hot as most air coolers under load. They just reach this max temp over a longer period of time because it requires considerably more energy to heat up water than it does copper or aluminum.

Been playing for the past hour and it's still sitting between 45-50.
