How to check if RAM is Samsung B-die

How would once check if RAM is Samsung B-die or E-die or even hynix.

Is there any software that I can install on my PC and it will detect it?

Okay nevermind, just found it:

It's just interesting that it says it's Hynix ... and it works at 2933MHz on my Ryzen build.

But when you look at part number and check on motherboard QVL, it says that it's Samsung die. It doesn't say if it's B or E-die, just says it's samsung.

Not sure why my are Hynix, and why do they even work at 2933 on Ryzen xD

It says M-die

And what does that means?

Sorry if I sound dumb, but I just have no idea about those RAM dies and Hynix/Samsung/others ...

Need to look at various site to really find out if the ram you have is really what you want. Some say higher clock with low timings are B-die.

Companies that make RAM sticks typically do not state what dies go into RAM, as they source from multiple manufacturers in the production of each SKU.

RAM sticks are matched with the same memory to improve compatibility, although before Ryzen, the difference between different fabrications of memory made little to no observable difference, so there was no reason to limit supplies to specific dies as this would just skyrocket costs and RAM availability.

The motherboard manufacturer may have got one (or a few) kit(s) of the RAM, tested them, and since they got Samsung dies they may have assumed all would be the same.

BIOS updates have improved memory compatibility quite a lot with Ryzen already, with reportedly more to come.

Are you using Corsair LPX? They used to use B-die but switched to Hynix.

You can pull the heat spreader off on the side with the ram chips and look at the part number or set ram to 2v and set timings to 12-11-11-28 1t if it works at 2v and those Timings it's b die. If it goes up in flames then it was probably hynix anyway so no great loss.

That seems to be very bad way to test it xD

Why is Hynix so unpopular :o

Hynix is just crap. The timings are awful.

The only good feature is that it doesn't cold bug easily unlike Samsung
