AF140-LED is cheaper than a regualr non-led so if i wanted to light it up would i need to connect it normally thought a 3 pin or do i need something else?

Thanks.

They have extra circuity on the PCB to power the LED's from the 3 pin fan connection unless you want to mod something by soldering in resistors and LED's it would be easier to get an LED unit, and that is for a single color fan, RGB is completely different.

So I don't need anything else right? For just one colour?

Wait, I'm confused. What do i need?

On the originals units they are powered via circuity on the fan PCB itself, you would basically need to recreate something similar or to do the same task if you didn't want an extra cable.

It can be done by connecting say 4 LED's in series and an appropriately sized resistor and tacking it to the 12V in and ground but it may not be as elegant.

You don't need anything extra. just buy the Version With the color you want, and plug inn. they work out of the box

Sorry for the few off Capital letters in my posts, it does it on its own when I Write in English, since my OS is in another Language. It's annoying.
