Youtube finally has an official dark mode! (and more!)

tlink

source: https://www.youtube.com/new

well i don't really know what else to say, they also reworked some design and moved some feature options to the menu at the top right and basically reworked its framework. that top right menu is also where you can activate dark mode. you first have to sign up for the new youtube trough the link i provided as source though. i have been using shitty extensions until now, it finally is here way to late tbh. some screenshots below.

It does literally the same thing that Dark skin for Youtube did, and flawlessly if I may add.

It just cracks me up every time how much time multi billionaire corporations need to add some functions to their products, when a single person does that in in their free time.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

yea but appearantly it was a limit to the framework they had to embed it into the site as toggleable. (i have no clue if its true, i do not know enough about html5 to judge that). and atleast my dark mode won't break now with every aesthetically change to youtube.

Still a better dark theme than Windows 10. Who thought people wanted a completely black background?

I'd like to see you guys talk about this on the WAN show. I'm curious if the new style will affect ad revenue. I don't think it will, but I think it may alter how you make thumbnails, knowing there will be two backgrounds.

I don't know if I like it. It doesn't keep a placeholder for the scroll bar on the channels. It keeps shifting the video space left and right every time my mouse goes near the channel buttons.

I didn't realize it was a closed beta. I just hopped onto Youtube one day and it was there. I was just like "Cool."

report it in feedback, sounds like a glitch because i don't have that (but i have a shitton of anti scripting extensions so maybe its that preventing it)

How do you go about enabling it? The announcement says to go to the new Account Menu, which I have been unable to locate.

It's in the drop down once you're trying the new "Look".

Click your little profile icon top right.

Theater Mode has been vastly improved, though IMHO

It's fantastic! Takes up the entire width of the window.
