i5 3570k stock vs i7 2600k 4.7Ghz

Go to solution Solved by The Sloth,

i7

So at this moment I have an i5 3570k, but i lack the chipset to OC it (bought the cpu at a very good price thats why my horrible MB with this CPU).

I have the option to trade my cheap MB, i5 and 8gb single channel 1333Mhz ram for a P8Z77-V DELUXE + i7 2600k (i will be abble to oc it) + Corsair H60 + 8GB Dual Channel by just direct trade that means no extra money for none of the parts.

The things that Im not sure about are:

  • I have an rx 480 8GB and I play at 1080p will the lack of PCI 3.0 bottleneck the performace of my GPU on the i7?
  • i7 2600k @4.7Ghz OC vs i5 3570k @Stock in gaming, how big of a difference?
  • Is this a good deal?

Im really confused because in terms of technology i will be downgrading but will get from the medium range to the old top performance so upgrading also but I dont know how the lack of the recent tech will make on my everyday basis.

Thanks in advance

I would trade your platform. Moving up to Ryzen or Kaby/Sky would help you more, but I understand if it isn't possible.

PCIe 3.0 x8 is about the same as PCIe 2.0 x16.

Look for some benchmarks.

Look above. I don't think so, but it'd be up to you.

This is not a be all end all, as it discounts oc'ing completely, but the 3570k is the better chip. A lot better, expecially overclocked. What board do you have?

If there is any way to come up wit the money to buy a cheap board for the 3570k, You can get one for between $30 and $50 on eBay. I would go that route, you will be far happier. And getting the 2600k to 4.7? I hope you are a very good overclocker and have exceptional cooling,

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?
