Is it safe to use cracked windows 10?

Nojuz

I'm using windows 8 at the moment, but the pc got kinda slow, so I was thinking about resetting the pc to factory settings and thought why not to upgrade to win 10, because I heard it's a bit faster and stuff.

So is it safe to have cracked windows 10 on the pc, because I don't really want to spend that much money, or is still a way to upgrade it for free?

It is a Russian roulette, some people already are scared to shit that microsoft is collecting data through telemetry, now imagine that with a pirated windows it is very likely this telemetry with all your data information is being sent straight to the shady russian guy who cracked it, while the performance might be the same in "good" cracked windows out there there simply is not such thing as safety in using them.

Also this kind of discussion goes against the community standards, you should refrain from asking similar stuff again.

You might try the upgrade still...I upgraded my friend's laptop, Windows 7 Home OEM to Windows 10 using the ISO from the original 10 launch...it actually worked / gave him a home windows 10 key with digital rights.

But yeah, I buy Windows and Office from reddit...it feels weird but I'm 100% legal now for Microsoft stuff.

It is never safe to use a cracked software because you never know what was added or altered however, you can use a cracked windows10 software, once it is a properly done one that allows you to have full OS features where you can then use ti to update to a newer version of windows10.

For all of you that finds the telemetry shit intrusive, it can be turned off once you have the time, takes a while to turn off everything, and the know how. Cuntana is the most annoying thing i have seen windows use and in the anniversary update  it can be turned off without causing any issues but when you turn it off in the creators update it breaks windows search and tiles because microsoft has merged the two, search and cuntana, to be a single thing.

After windows XP, the search option was broken anyways. If I'd put a file somewhere hidden in a strange OS dir, it would not be able to find the file...

That isn't true, by broken i mean search is not accessible anymore.

In both cases, it's not working that will >>> not worth using. But I do agree it was a horrible move to merge cuntana with the stock search options.

Well, knew there had to be a catch to it. I'll start saving up pennies to get full retail copies then.

Before this thread gets locked, check MS official website. I do remember even few weeks ago you could download .iso, install and use it without a license, albeit with some restrictions which afaik no one noticed since they were nothing significant for most users. It's not currently listed at their page but try to dig a bit.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

When I was younger and less intelligent I used pirated Windows. I found out that after a few runs of Windows Update that Microsoft had released a patch to cover the holes that were used to 'activate' Windows.

Eh, I don't want to talk about it, but if you were pirating you'd know which patches to disable in windows update...but yeah, I bought keys from reddit now because I wanted the latest office, I can afford the keys from reddit (They are pretty cheap), and I like to not have to deal with worrying about patches that would knock you off windows.

But ah, I'm not sure if the installation discs would you any good if you don't have the actual key to go with it...

Maybe I might rethink the whole reddit thing...maybe I do have to get retail copies from Microsoft. Though I spent roughly $150 on reddit so far (two copies of 10 / three keys of office pro 2016). If I paid full price, we're talking quite a bit of money here.

Thread cleaned.

Please keep in mind that discussing pirated material and how to obtain it, or encouraging one to do so isn't allowed on this forum.

Same goes with "grey market", though it's kinda tolerated, it's not legal and there's chances the key you obtain on grey markets can get deactivated.

From the Community Standards

Quote

Talking about piracy in general, broad details, is acceptable however the posting or discussing pirated/hacked/cracked or otherwise nefariously obtained content is not. This includes Windows content, games, hackintosh, etc. Also discussions regarding ways to avoid or block legitimately installed monitoring/tracking software or the like is also not allowed.

With that said, what other's said about installing Windows 10 and using you Windows 7/8 key is true, it works even though Microsoft said the free upgrades aren't available anymore. That solution is 100% legal and can be discussed at length here.

You can get windows 10 pro licence from Amazon Germany for a few euros (about 7-7.50) if you really wanted to, apparently.

Just bear in mind that OEMs get locked to the motherboard and can't be used on a different one. At least that's the official statement.

Pretty sure they arent actually allowed to do that in the EU, but not 100% :) - it certainly made no difference on my computer since vista.

Haha just found the same site and was about to post the link :)

depending in ones upgrade cycle it seems to be cheaper to just buy an OEM key every time. Even if MS claims that 10 will be the last windows version...

Using cracked software is taking a risk. People who make cracks or distribute them aren't necessarily the crusaders from evil software companies. They may be just as bad.

Case in point, when I was a dirty pirate a long time ago, it wasn't uncommon for my AV to sound the alarm because I had a keygen or crack with a trojan horse in it.

Nothing happens, 99% people use pirated windows

That seems legit alright.

I'm sure Microsoft's business model allow them to survive with only 15 million legitimate users if we consider they reportedly have 1.5 billion users. No wonder they are moving toward pushing ads on us, when even Facebook has over a billion users.

It's closer to 50%~60%(from 2012), only because of places like China, Indonesia and India that have very high piracy rate.
