Audio Codec: ALC1220 vs ALC892?

RRGT19
  • ASRock H270M-ITX/ac ALC892
  • GIGABYTE GA-H270N-WIFI ALC1220

I will buy a new Mini ITX motherboard and these models have different audio, even being H270 both.

The audio from Gigabyte is way better or I won't notice the difference?.

(The location of the USB 3.0 connector on the Gigabyte is the worst thing I have ever seen and I'm trying to get the ASRock but, if the audio is noticeable then, I'll go Gigabyte.)

I don't recommend buying a motherboard based on audio features. If it's something you care about, go with a separate solution.

Implementation matters a lot more than the chip. You're most likely not going to notice a difference between those boards; in both cases the codec is just dropped into the standard circuit without any extras.

  • 1 year later...

both of the codecs suck donkey balls, realtek is not good on sound or drivers

I sugest saving a few bucs on a external DAC if you need more then 2 channels, save a few bucs on a creative card or at least a asus sound card all of these 3 options will give you a better sound
