125cc 4 stroke smoking crazy

Hey guys!

I recently got a pitbike with a 125CC 4 stroke engine, when I got it, it was smoking pretty bad, but after some riding the smoke went away.

I decided to check the oil, I opened the drain port and just a few drips came out. So I filled it up with recommended oil (10W40), and started it.

After a few seconds of running, a lot of smoke came out of the exhaust again.

 

Idk if I put too much oil in, or if something has to be done to make it use less oil.

Failed piston rings seem likely. 

 

Given that it was run severely oil starved, you'd do well to rebuild or replace the engine.

I'm going to second the piston rings comment. I went to school to be a mechanic and that sounds spot on to me

Piston rings or the cylinder bore. Those cheaper small engines have a straight aluminum bore with no sleeve in them.
