Hello everyone,

I've been planning on getting a case that has some specific features:

- Plenty of space for storage\Storage bays (I happen to like a lot of hard drives and storage arrays)

-Enough space for water loops and future expansions

-Out of the ordinary design

Now, I have the possibility to make it by myself (I have family who works with metal / carpentry / etc) . I was thinking of using aluminium for the chassis and the rest of the materials would depend on the design, If anyone knows a better alternative nowadays I am open to suggestions. I am also looking for tips on DYI case work and things to look out for \etc

However if there is a prebuilt case that you know of I would appreciate any recommendations

Get a ATX case. Also what type of out of the ordinary because that could mean that boat case linus did a build inside of.

Ex frequent user here, still check in here occasionally. I stopped being a weeb in 2018 lol

there are a ton of cases that fit your first two design criteria... tough to say with your third point since the "out of the ordinary" requirement is entirely subjective. just how out of the ordinary are we talking here? most nice commercial cases nowadays are some kind of box with an acrylic or windowed side panel. are you against box/square shaped cases? (I don't mean cube cases, but just all cases in general tend to be some kind of square)

so until you define "out of the ordinary" we can't really be of much help to you. I might recommend a Thermaltake P5 or P7, Thermaltake Tower 900, for their size and uniqueness.... but if you're looking more for something like a Lian-Li PC-Y6, then we're talking a whole different ballpark here.

For someone like you I may also suggest a custom built desk PC if that is in your area of expertise.

OP, take your time when selecting the case that you want. There are over 50 companies producing computer cases for consumers.

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

i7-3770k@4.8ghz + 680 4gb + 32gbs Ram + 500gb SSD = Retired/Office work

Indeed, I should have been more specific. What I ment was that if I was going to build one I would go for a design rather unique. Much like some tank shaped cases or some form that isn't your typical square one.

Thank you for the recommendations and about that boat case, god no xD

Yes, I will. If I was to build one from scratch I would defenetly give it some months to plan and come up with "the one"
