Hey guys,

So I decided to run some temp tests so I changed the thermal paste on my 1080 Ti Founders.  The only problem I ran into is the white 2 pin plug by the 8+6 power plug.  The whole white plug pulled off the pins.  The pins on the pcb werent damaged or anything so I just put it back on.  Could that cause any issues or if I accidentally put it on in the wrong orientation or something? Its just the power to the GTX logo's LED's right?

Thanks!!

It's for the led logo. It shouldn't hurt anything if you pulled it off. I'd check your paste job and see if you put enough on there. Extremely important to cover the entire die, not just most of it as it doesn't have an ihs.

It's prolly bricked. I'd turn it in to your local recycling center.

Meh, something still works. No reason to trash the whole rig.

I got a saying if something works just fine DONT change it comes to mind.

Well thats part of the problem, i put it on a new motherboard and it wont display now, so idk if its because my bios are not updated or what.  And i dont have my old board.

Check that you installed your GPU into your motherboard correct, check the cables make sure they are in the correct slots etc first. If it still dont post.put an old gpu into your computer and update your BIOS. Make sure your Power supply is working ok. Make sure everything is working ok with your OLD GPU first. That way you can eliminate most of your hardware then put your new GPU in and see what happens. Its a bummer all the messing around but with PC's its all the same. Once everything works fine its great the minute it stops workings, its like a murder mystery and your the detective finding the bad guy or bad hardware in this case.
