I'm building a Ryzen PC for my friend with a 1600 in it, and was wondering how important Samsung B-die is if I just want 3Ghz memory to boot at 3Ghz. no overclocking ever. with the recent BIOS updates, do you think it could just be plug and play? even with non-optimal memory?

Well, that's close enough to 3Ghz that I don't really care.

I just don't want to be stuck with something like 2666 for the first few months.

in that case then, I will just buy some cheap DDR4-3000 and call it a day.

What board are you getting?

If going cheap then get an AsRock AB350 Fatal1ty and 3000Mhz C15 Corsair LPX, it's on their QVL validated mem list

idk

Was thinking of the Asrock AB350 Pro 4, because it's color neutral, and it's the cheapest ATX board (and it has a lot of power phases)

Well, I'd get this:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232298&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

and CL15 isn't bad.

IMO I'd just get this

Both of these sales last longer than the one you posted so...

This.

No sense in spending waaaay more money on more expensive memory kits when most of the benefit can be achieved on much cheaper kits.
