Graphics card for 1080p 60hz gaming.

Like @TrigrH said, go with a GTX 1060 6GB because of the AMD DX11 overhead being a problem with i3 class cpus (which the G4560 is). I wouldn't bother with a 1070 unless you know you're going to upgrade to i5 or better within the next few months. Even then I find the 1070 a hard buy at $400 when it's almost a year old and you can get 1080s for $500. It might be interesting to see if Nvidia does any kind of Pascal refresh in the next month and a half or so to answer AMD's Polaris refresh launching next week.

It's gotta be 1060 6GB. Don't get the 3GB just to save $50, as that's not much vram in 2017. What @TrigrH posted is a problem we have been seeing with AMD's DX11 overhead vs Nvidia's since 2014.

The RX 480 is a great option and so is the GTX 1060. 

 

If you're determined on picking one or the other then I'd personally lean towards an RX 480.

The 4GB  480 is good for if you're interested in 1080p gaming. The 8GB 480 is good for if you want to be able to play VR titles in the future using VR headsets or if you want to play at 1440p.

Well, now it clears up a lot for me, I will check out the refresh of the rx 480 coming out soon, if it can outperform a gtx 1060 by a respectable margin I would go for it, otherwise gtx 1060 6gb it is.

when the refresh occurs, the RX 480 might drop in price so It might be worthwhile snagging last year's card at a cheaper price.

Hey, thanks for the video, has a lot of great info here, so to summarize as Nvidia is the bigger beast here it can more or less make most game devs do anything, and given my weak CPU, the always on Multi threaded workload of would be better, so the green team is a better choice ??

haha, it would. I have an rx 480 and an i5 6402p (overclocked 6400, basically) and it bottlenecks me all the times. some examples are andromeda and battlefield. cpus havent changed much over the years and intels really needing some competition

For weaker CPU, yes. But for any modern Intel (Haswel or up) or AMD (Ryzen) 4 Thread CPUs, it shouldn't be a problem. The G4560 is fast enough to keep up in most games, no matter which GPU architecture you choose.

For 1080p 60hz, an RX 470 will do the job very well. If you'd rather go for something more powerful, I'd go for the 480 due to lower FPS gaming being smoothed out by Freesync(Only on compatible monitors.) Also AMD cards generally last longer in driver support when compared to Nvidia cards.
