Droidbot's SATA3 SSD Tier List

I already own a Samsung 750 EVO and I have used it for everything (OS and games) in my laptop. Now I want to build a desktop PC and I don't know if I should get a new SSD or reuse the old one. I bought it about a year ago I think. @Droidbot

Cant find Galax Gamer L or Adata XPG series.

I am a bit confused here should i buy premium TLC like 850 evo or Good MLC SSD?

Not common here in the West, thus not reviewed solidly and cannot rank.

TLC will not last as long, but if tweaked properly like the 850's implementation can outperform an MLC SSD.

Where do any of the Patriot SSD's fall?

specifically the Patriot Blast (240gb)

Alright, very much depends on model.

Blast 240 doesn't seem that bad, a bit lower than 840 EVO but a step above low end SSDs like the Sillicon Power S80 for example.

Has bad reviews on Newegg, make sure you get warranty!

idk

Tier 3:
- Crucial MX100 (Doesn't handle load very well, similar to the M550, but good overall performance besides that) (20nm MLC, be careful of endurance!)

What info is this based off? Are you aware that the 512gb model performs noticeably better than the smaller models?

Also its 16nm MLC not 20.

Userbench's SSD benches aren't particularly brilliant.

Testing the 256GB and 512GB models.

Thanks for the correction, I think I had written 20nm thinking it was the BX100

idk

BX100 is also 16nm? I'm so confused. Also the BX100 is barely any faster? So why is it in tier 1?

Source? Also, that might be a fw-updated version of the mx100. Most of these are tested in the 'Destroyer' bench - which in my opinion is a very good comparison of how an SSD may handle real world load from a power user. Will revise the MX100 to 16nm and Tier 1, alongside BX100/Triactor. Still one hell of an SSD, thanks for the correction

idk

Crucial BX300?

Was literally about to ask the same question :P

Pros over the MX300:

Uses MLC nand whereas the MX300 uses TLC

Seems to perform better than the MX300 plus it has a higher write IOPS rating (which seems to be true from reviews).

Edit:

Also, are you gonna change the MX100? I know its not that important but when you have 3 of them and were your first SSDs, it nice to see it in a higher tier. (Plus I may or may not be a tiny bit micron-baised...)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

SiliconPower ones should be listed in Tier 2 or 3.  Performance varies a lot depending on the size (bigger = faster).  I've purchased several (mainly for customers, only one for myself).  They have moderate performance.  On the higher side of most TLC NAND drives.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

It seems like Samsung updated their SATA based lineup again with the 860 Evo/Pro. (Which has lead to a dilemma of whether to get it, a MX300, or wait for the MX500 for m.2)

When benchmarks release it's gonna definitely be in the top 3 SSDs. Minor Samsung fanboyism aside, I cant wait for these things to release

What exactly makes the 860 better than the 850? Is it just a higher endurancy for the memory? Otherwise they look very similar.

New controller, better reliability on the NAND, more RAM for the nand cache
