NEED HELP!

sYnkTV

Hey!

I've curently a Intel Core i5 4430 and I'm going from GTX 660 3GB to a GTX 1080 8GB MSI.

I wonder will I get more fps on CSGO? I want high settings on CSGO while I'm streaming sometimes and sometimes I'm playing on low settings.

I'm getting from my old gtx 120fps on kinda high settings atm.

So is there anything I should upgrade before going for GTX 1080 8GB?

Here is the speccs i've:

Operating System
    Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
    Intel Core i5 4430 @ 3.00GHz    32 °C
    Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
    12,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
    ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M51AC (SOCKET 1150)    109 °C
Graphics
    BenQ XL2411Z (1920x1080@144Hz)
3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (ASUStek Computer Inc)    52 °C
Storage
    119GB SanDisk SSD U100 128GB (SSD)
    931GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 (SATA)    36 °C

Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

If you get 120 fps with a gtx 660 then yes you will get more with a gtx 1080.

But essentially it will only give you 24 fps more as your monitor refresh is 144hz.

csgo likes fast cpu's.

a 1080 is a big waste with that cpu also.

1060 6gb(rx480) or 1070 max

I would agree. For CSGO, it would be better to drop some of the spending from the graphics card and put it into a better processor (maybe one of the new Ryzen ones if you wanted a budget high performer? Does anyone have CSGO performance numbers for those?) However, as was said above, you're only getting 24 more frames maximum, seeing as your monitor can't handle any more frames. If by "more frames" you mean you're looking for higher performance on the streaming/recording side of things, you could pick up a dedicated recording card. Good luck with the streaming and the build!

But I want more fps in game on cs and is it worth to switch from GTX 660 3GB to 1070 8GB? I get 220fps on high settings to 100 sometimes.

That's understandable. Do keep in mind, however, that no matter how many frames per second your computer outputs, your monitor can only display 144 of them. There are arguments for having a higher frame rate from your computer (decreases lag, etc.) but that only matters to an extent. Will you get more frames with a GTX 1070 or 1080 card? Yes. More frames will be rendered, anyway. But will those frames matter? I don't think so, although other people may have differing opinions.

I would move up to a RX480 - 8GB instead of a GTX1070 or 1080 and with the money saved, I would get a Intel Core i7 4790. Go for the non-k version since your motherboard is an h87 and you can't overclock anyway. This will probably give you the best overall performance boost. Pairing a high-end GPU with a low/mid range CPU will just end up in CPU bottleneck.

1070 isnt bottlenecked by an underclocked 4690k(3.2ghz).

at 144hz I dont believe this applies and have experienced it first hand.

He also mentions frequently that this could be a placebo effect.
