side note, whats with all the later then normal uploads this week, did you change your target upload time again or just running behind?

Workflow issues. Still trying to figure out the best way to work with the 8K RED footage. (this video doesn't have RED footage, but yesterday's did, and we pushed the release of today's video back in order to not totally step on yesterday's release)

My official response whenever someone asks me what I do is "I get shit done," so yeah that's a pretty LMG standard answer/non-answer lol. "I'm this but I don't really do that, I do all of these other things most of the time"

Hey guys please for next time use these screws https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.10x1-12-laminating-screw-100pc.1000140577.html if your not going to use drywall anchors. There called Laminators, there for DRYWALL TO DRYWALL ie they grab into drywall.

 

The regular 1-1/4 fine thread drywall screws prolly won't hold up to long to you guys tugging and pulling to get at the headphones, not to mention throwing them back up. There designed to pierce steel stud.

 

Just saying for next, the more you now right? Nice setup as well!

 

BTW might wanna get some cleaning solution before use, before they get grotty.

It will add a second stage of amplification, as phones can't tell what they're plugged into. So you're going through the phone's DAC (quality dependent on make/model), the phones amplifying circuit, and then through a second external amp. If you're using a tube amp, then you'll get the slight colouring that comes with that, but you've already lost any chance to see the improvement by using an analogue input.

 

They'd take better advantage of the equipment they've been given by using a USB input into any of the DAC's then into an amp.

 

Personally, I'd have liked an actual rundown of what components and headphones they actually have on the stand/wall. Otherwise it's just a "let's all laugh at Linus as he struggles to do something" video rather than a "here's a cool project, this is what we have, and here's how we did it".

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Though, I did cringe a little at direct-mounting to drywall. Hanging a large piece of plywood first would have been a more durable solution, and less hole repair later.

 

Linus believes the drywall contractor covered a light switch. Here's a tip from a former electrician. Take that 2-foot level and walk around the room holding it against the wall at switch height. You should find a hump where the box is holding the drywall away from the stud. Of course, this method won't work if the switch is behind one of those wall tiles. Alternatively, you could move ceiling tiles and trace the wires, but that invites tile damage.

Also cringed a bit at going directly from Linus' phone to a several hundred dollar tube amp... Although I totally understand why. Seems like the only DACs they had were USB/optical input, and I'd imagine they didn't just have a micro USB to USB type B cable laying around. Although just bringing a laptop and hooking it up to one of the DACs with a simple USB A to B cable would have probably saved you a lot of flame in the comments haha.
