A i7 1700 would still be better in games though, and would be cheaper with a B250 mobo and no cooler, allowing for a 1080 (!)

With threads becoming more and more relevant I only see it as an advantage at losing money, locked i7 should be the way to go in my opinion.

I solid agree on that, I can't wait for it to come out, my boyfriend needs a new rig and we're strongly considering making a 1600x to test its capacity ourselves, very promising and it'll also give that nice OC'ing experience, but the unlocked i5 after all I have been seen this year is really something I can not recommend haha

Thats awesome build, only thing which I could go better is stronger PSU and for sure I would go for SSD. But in my country i will probably pay 20% more money.

Taking out a SSD for overclocking is not worth it. The kraken is not a good choice if he is working within a specific budget. A Dark Rock 3 or something from Noctua would get similar performance for half the price.
