Yes, plus the 32nm XEONS have superior IMC's to the 45NM XEON or i7's.

 

Westmere-EP is a stronger and efficient design of Nehalem, a very very small IPC increase and superior gaming performance thanks to the much larger L3 cache.

Or a C series chipset. Since Xeons, you ought to use ECC. Honestly, the L5638 or the L5639 seem better.

The board alone is easily 250 dollars minimum.

Don't buy an engineering sample i7 unless you've done your research. Even then, I still wouldn't buy one, regardless. There is a list of specific motherboards that it'll work with and you'll be taking a risk with prototype CPUs. You'll be better off going for an X5650 and a decent motherboard.
