X5650 (hexa core XEON) vs QHQG (skylake i7 engineering sample)

Wow, they sure do.  These work with ddr3 right?

Yes, plus the 32nm XEONS have superior IMC's to the 45NM XEON or i7's.

Westmere-EP is a stronger and efficient design of Nehalem, a very very small IPC increase and superior gaming performance thanks to the much larger L3 cache.

The 6 core can easily reach around 4.5ghz with an AIO.

I have a intel xeon cpu and a 1070 i hope this makes you salty.

Hey, you have a Xeon E5 1650, do you have any recommendations for MOBO?

I have a 1650 v3 so that's a major difference between the v1 and v2. Any motherboard will do, cause Intel hasn't limit the Xeon cpu onto server chipsets like they did on the mainstream. v1 and v2 runs on socket 2011 with DDR3. V3 runs on socket 2011-3 with DDR4.

Your best option would be to get a Xeon E3 1231 v3, with a cheap mobo that has 4 ram slots, and the rest on memory.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy x360 BP series Intel 8th gen

AMD ThreadRipper 2!

5820K & 6800K 3-way SLI mobo support list

Anyone who thinks the XEON 6 core struggles to go above 4ghz are delusional, and must think MJ can't sing.

Anyway.. 32NM XEON's are stupid overclockers, but you need a good board for it.

Alas, its too expensive.  I think I'll go with E5-1650 ($100) or X5650 ($50)  They both seem solid and right in my price bracket.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
