I personally don't care ONE BIT of what AMD says. They are always going to state that stupid "+300" developer kit bullshit. I'VE SEEN IT LIKE 5 TIMES NOW.

 

So until BIOS releases and Windows gets an update.......

And there are many other workloads out there that can't be GPU accelerated. Many simulations, photo scanning, etc. GPUs aren't CPUs so you can't take advantage of them in everything.

mate, have you actually read/watched the Gamers Nexus Ryzen review? they point out that Blender GPU accelerated workloads are much much faster than CPU ones, even with Ryzen at the helm

it makes no fucking sense to use CPU for rendering when OpenGL/OpenCL/CUDA GPU acceleration is available

Just look at the benchmarks I linked. There's a noticeable difference between the score on different CPUs even when GPU accelerated.

Depends on the codec you use I guess, for example x264/x265 are purely CPU accelerated except for video effects which are GPU accelerated.
Still, if you are multitasking (rendering and playing a game at the same time) or rendering multiple videos at once then it makes sense. Linus did a comparison with the 5960X (with the good ol' kitchen background :P)

Yeah, and the Anandtech benchmark I linked.

 

The percent difference between the 1800x and 6900k when CUDA accelerated is about the same as the difference between the 1800x and 6900k when not. So it makes sense.

if you have that kind of workload, it should be no problem to use a Intel Xtreme CPU ...

normal people don't have that kind of workloads; and if you step into that kind of workloads and play games at the same time that means you have the money to afford it

it's even less expensive to just have two dedicated machines - one for gaming, one for rendering

yeah, the i7-6950X is ~1800$ and as Linux pointed out in a video, it was worth it for him
