Ive just attempted overclocking my I7 5960X. I ran IntelBurnTest on Very High and with all 8 cores hitting 100% load i was getting between 92 - 102'c.

Ive set the CPU strap to 125, core clock speed to x35, boosts to about 4.4ghz.

I have a corsair h110i gtx as a cpu cooler. Is is strange for me to be getting these temps.

What is a safe temp that i should be running my cpu at? Ive got a second 1080FE on the way and it would be nice to not cook my cpu before it arrives.

Safe load temps would be under 80c

try using aida64, I don't know if inthell burn test uses AVX or not (AVX makes any CPU jump extremely high in temperatures)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

i usally like to say that a safe temp with an overclock would be 70's or maybe low 80's.  ur temps are really high

Try lower voltage or clocks... maybe you are using too much vcore to get it stable?

Possibly, but its only running at 1.32v which i think was just enough to stabalize it.

My max temp when playing dayz is only 56 which seems ok too me.

Check if the H110i's pump has gone, there should be a humming from the block or the end of the rad

Im fairly certain that the pump is working, otherwise id have expected it to crash on me.

I've heard and tested myself intelburntest. The app really really heat up your cpu and yes your temps are really high but at the same time playing game or whatever you are going to be doing on it, you will never reach those temps.Try using the free trial of Aida 64 they will give clearer idea of what the temps will be under load. Personnally i am comfortable having around 70 C for my cpu but I would say max temp 80 C.

I have seen people telling you to look at you're pump. An other trick is when you are stress testing it the air coming out of the radiator should be hot (and hotter with your CPU temps) and if you don't feel heat coming out of the radiator that mean that the pump is dead. (Happened to me)
