Hey guys, i'm looking to try AMD and decided I want a Ryzen and Vega build. Benchmarks have shown an early Vega card beating out a Titan X in some benchmarks (and this is on Alpha drivers!) and the Ryzen 1800X looks pretty great.

My previous build (Check signature to see it) is great but i'm looking to try new stuff As such, i'm on AM4 instead of Skylake, AMD instead of Nvidia, i've chosen much faster RAM, a bigger, nicer looking watercooler, a M.2 SSD instead of SATA, and a very high end motherboard instead of kinda high end/mid end.

Since I want to try new stuff, has anyone got recommendations for the following parts?

HDD - I have bought this HDD for my past 2 builds. It's the most sold on Amazon and most chosen on Pcpartpicker, is it just the best? I need something for mass storage that isn't too expensive. Is there a slightly faster alternative that isn't way more expensive?

Case - The 570X looks really nice but the reviews I read say it's shit and very difficult to manage cables in, if not impossible. Are the reviews just for the price, or is it really a terrible case? Any alternatives with this sorta look if so?

PSU - I went with the 550X for my last build. No disappointment yet, clean power, but how does it fair vs the EVGA competitors at this price like the supernova / g2 ?

If you have any other reccomendations for other parts, let me know. Afaik i've chosen good parts, the mobo is (i think) the highest rated Ryzen Mobo,  I LOVE that AIO, fast m.2 SSD (I think, i've never used or had an M.2), obviously good CPU choice, and when the Ryzen ram speed is sorted out, that trident Z RGB will feed it nicely.

Let me know, thanks!

Ryzen has slower single-core compared to Intel and suffers in even well-optimised games due to the architecture essentially being 2 4c/8t processors stuck together. goes well in multitasking and workstation stuff though

A memory controller issue makes Ryzen not take advantage of faster RAM at the moment, which is quite limiting

idk

I'd consider just getting the 1700 if you're going to overclock anyway. It performs right up there with the 1800x from what I've seen. An m.2 SATA SSD is no faster than a regular SATA SSD. You just save some space and cable management. The RAM is a little over priced, but if you really want that RGBness then it is what it is. Personally if you're going that high price and performance wise I'd ban the HDD entirely. The top Vega card is of little use if you don't plan on upgrading your monitors.

Honestly, unless you really, really have the itch to build a completely new system, or do tons of content creation, I'd just keep the one that you have.

Ah, the attraction of announced but unreleased tech.

Why would one trust "benchmarks" of an unreleased product?

I don't really care if they aren't accurate benchmarks - I am certain the "RX Vega" will be, at minimum, 1080 performance for cheaper.

Even so, if it sucks I can just get a 1080 or 1080Ti anyway.
