I have a little hard drive and a big hard drive and an sad for boot. The big one in my computer and the little one externally(for now). I copied all of the files and programs to the external drive that I'm going to put inside. I'm going to take the other one out and use it in my server. 

 

Does anyone know how to change a drive letter without changing the paths?

I know what you mean. Does the path mean the path that shortcuts and programs are directed through? i just want to change the letter not the path.

The paths in shortcuts, the registry, and program's config files that are written when each program is installed are all just plain text - they rely on the drive letter. There is no automatic way to change a drive letter and update all shortcuts and such. If you change the drive letter a program is installed on, most programs will break in one way or another
