Possible to switch off power strips with these buttons?

Hello!

So I've seen people putting these in cases, to get cooler buttons

But I just thought...could I make a panel of these, to switch off lamps, TV's and power strips with them?

I could imagine making a box, where they were on a line or something...but is it possible somehow? Or something like that with something else?

I'd really like a small panel with switches or buttons on the bottom of my desk, so I could turn lamps around the room off and on from there.

Thanks alot!

Yes, as long as they do function as a button (they have to close the circuit. Im saying this because another user asked this same question and gave us an ebay link [store which I dont trust much]) and you solder/add "tie" (I dont really know how to say It in English) 2 cables, yes.

if you get a bi-stabile switch (that means that you can turn it on and it stays on, and you can turn it off and it stays off) there's no reason it shouldnt work. that said, make *DAMN* sure thta the switch is rated for mains voltage and plenty of amperage.

I think that those are buttons, meaning: as long as you press them, they will close the circuit (Stay on), and as soon as you release them they will open the circuit (switch off)

I spent way too long overthinking this post and rewriting it so here it is plain and simple.

a) Get yourself some components, get into soldering (http://www.instructables.com/id/Use-a-Momentary-or-Tactile-Switch-as-a-Pushbutton-/?ALLSTEPS)

b) Get yourself an arduino an follow this guy's steps in order for the arduino to control AC power (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ao6KD8f9J4)

c) ask a friend who actually knows EE.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

using an arduino for this is such overkill it's laugable, you can get a purpose made device for less money than an arduino...

Heh. You could get one of those remotes that switch power on and off. And you could just stick it to the underside of the table too. Would be an easy job. :) No wires either.
