Does 7.1 really works in Headphone Devices.

I am a budget PC gamer and I always do some digging before I spend my money on something, whether or not its worth every single penny.

I am planning to buy Corsair Raptor HS-40 7.1 Headset. It is worth buying? and does 7.1 really works in these budget headsets?

Note: I am not willing to spend a lot of money on Headphones. If you have any other suggestions please make sure they are in 40$ mark.

surround sound does not work in any headphones or headset, simply because the drivers are too close to your head. the headsets with all the drivers use shitty low-quality drivers and they are often not synced perfectly.

Virtual surround sound is very much hit or miss for people, some like it some hate it. You are better of getting good headphones in a given budget, than any of these "surround sound" headsets

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

at the 40$ mark, I can think of the Shure SRH240, AKG K-92 or K-72. I think you should go and read a bit about those and then see which you find the most interesting
