My rear panel 3.5 mm jack isn't detecting my headphones

So i usually connect my headphones to the front panel jack and it is working but the mic isn't working so well. So i tried to connect my headphones to the motherboard but it isn't working. i tried connecting it to the front and it still working (still isn't working quite well). So what is happening here? I remember it was working few years ago. Now it isn't. So can you guys help me?

What does "isn't working quite well" mean? Go to sound control panel and see what you can do from there.. Maybe setting priorities from where the system pulls the audio could help. Again, from what you've told us It could be the headset problem as well..
