Hi guys,

I'm using an LG31MU97 monitor, and a macbook monitor.  The colors are SO different, i dont which monitor to trust. Even if i set them as the same color profile, they are so different. The only solution people talk about is buying a Spyder calibration device.  I dont know what to do exactly, should i buy one?  I tried to screenshot the colors on both monitors to show them off, but when i take screenshots, they both use the same colors as my mac monitor, i dont know why. So i dont know how i could show off the colors to you guys.

My mac colors are much more saturated then my LG monitor (with or without the same color profile). I'm tempted to say my LG monitor has the more accurate colors, because the mac ones are so saturated. But i have no idea. And every time someone links a color testing page or something, it tests black levels and stuff, but doesnt say anything about actual different colors. A red on my LG monitor will be much more saturated if i bring it to my mac.

Any advice, i'm new to this stuff, and not sure what to do other then buy a device.

THANK YOU

The 31MU97 is calibrated at the factory, it should be considered accurate, though it will depend on which profile you choose (sRGB or AdobeRGB, really depends on what you are doing).

i set it to Adobe RGB and SrGB to try and match my mac monitor, by neither came close really. I also was leaning towards the LG monitor being more accurate. Assuming it is, do you have any advice on adjusting my mac monitor to be the same? Assigning the same color profiles doesnt work. I'm really new to this stuff, not sure how to approach it. My mac cant display Adobe RGB, so i know i would have to set my LG to srgb mode at the very least.
