Is Green WD Hard disk good for Gaming?

I have been using a laptop 2.5" 500 GB HDD in my PC lately, to play games. I know that the 2.5" HDD runs at lower RPM, which results in longer loading times. I am already fine with the loading times because I can wait for more 20 seconds for the game to load. Now the thing is that I have found a really good deal on a local shop. The guy is selling a WD Green 2 TB HDD for just 40$, so I want to upgrade now. I will remove the 500 GB 2.5" HDD from my PC as 2 TB is more than enough itself. I want to game on the new WD Green HDD. Now the problem with the WD green is that these drives have lower RPM (around 5400-5900). Will it affect the performance other than the loading times? Is it really an upgrade over the 500 GB HDD? And also, if I throw a Blue WD, how much is the FPS/performance gain in games?

A green is better for long term storage that doesn't need to be quick. I use mine for storing movies or games that I rarely play but don't want to download every time I want to play it (50GB+ monsters cough cough)

 

And while I have played on a green, which works fine, you will encounter slow load times between levels, but changing hard drives to higher performance devices isn't going effect your frame rates.

The speed of your drive does not affect gaming performance.  It just affects loading times.

For example, DO NOT put Civ 5 or Civ 6 on a laptop hard drive, if you can avoid it.

It takes FOREVER to boot up the game (11 mins to load Civ 5).

I would consider loading times part of performance. If you are constantly waiting on a hard drive to fetch things needed for the game it could cause some freezes or bits of lag.

No. WD Greens are low-power HDDs made for long-term storage. Get a WD Black if you still want mechanical storage, or get an SSD (which is the better choice).
