PS4? or PS4 Pro for PC gamer

I already have 2 good PC's I been over the fence to get a PS4Pro but damn, those games are expensive not like on PC, which is what is holding me back, I won't pay for online multiplayer, for that I have my PC here's the thing: should I get the normal PS4 (bundled with unchartred) for $257 or the Pro for $400 whenever Amazon gets it back on stock

No, I don't have a 4K TV and I'm not planning to buy one in the future, But I like decent framerates

Why do I want a PS4? the only reason is good for, exclusives that's it, I already have BD reader and burner on my PC, and I'm used to K&M what do you guys think?

go pick up a used ps4 on craigslist ora refurbished one from my understanding ps4 pro does not increase the framerate only go for the pro if your planning on getting psvr

I can't get a mobile console in Venezuela, I would get robbed in no time, also I'm not interested in any nintendo exclusives and the controllers look very cheap IMO

PS doesn't even have any really good exclusives besides GT and Uncharted lol

then ps4 normal is fine - but the controllers actually feel great, i dropped them multiple times because i tried playing zelda while jogging with a little chest harness and my switch on it (not a good idea) - but the ps4 should be fine for your needs - there really isn't a need to get the pro

If you go PS4 get the pro - I've had my 4 vanilla for 2 years or so now, and on the most part it's been great. However, Final Fantasy 15 runs kinda choppy and the fans are constantly on - if I knew this I would have waited and bought the pro

no joke, its one of those chest harness's and i just shoved a couple of enlarged selfie sticks on it and plopped my switch onto it, i got some weird looks but jogging never felt better

exercise + video games (Wii games don't count really) = happy person so can't really fault you there

Come on PS has got so many other good exclusives Nioh,Horizon Zero Dawn,The Last of Us,Bloodborne,God of War,Infamous,The Last Guardian etc. These are some of the most notable ones.

You could say those were the only ones you liked.

This is exactly the same spot I'm in as well so here's my 2 cents.

 

With the pro there are 2 possibilities in games, either there's options or not.

Newer games most likely will all have these options, older need a patch (but big ones like Last of Us already got it)

These Options include: 4k Mode or High FPS, and occasionally better graphics.

 

For non-patched games you probably can assume that it will run 30FPS all the time but there won't be any differences.

 

There's some awesome bundles where I live for around 300€ and the pro starts at 400 without games. So games included it's a 150€ Price increase for me (and roughly the same for you).

 

I'm also really unsure wether to get the pro for the better performance or the slim because it's way cheaper.

 

Another thing I found, apparently the pro is as loud as the original PS4 (which was really loud) when under full load.

If you play with 30FPS cap on FullHD however, it apparently is almost silent.

The PS4 Slim however is always quiet. Not silent, but not disturbing. (Check Videos on youtube, this is a thing that kinda bugs me, but I'm a silence-w**re. )

This shows the difference quite well. I know the old PS4 from a friend and it is loud.

Made a posting before but here's my conclussion. I'll go with the Slim.

I only want it for the exclusives and I don't have a 4k TV. The price difference is the main reason why, though.

300 for two controller and a game compared to 400 for just console + one controller and no game is kinda too much. Especially since I'll stay a PC Gamer and really only want the exclusives. If I sell the second controller ist's another 40 of the price, otherwise I have a spare controller. So...

It runs bad on the Pro too after the latest patch that forces an unlocked framerate on the Pro. Also the Slim uses way less power than the launch PS4 in gaming. Digital Foundry measured the power draw at 86W when playing AC Unity on the Slim, while the launch ran at 130W. So I'd imagine the Slim would be quite a bit quieter. The Pro uses a little more power than the launch PS4 according to Digital Foundry. They had launch PS4 running Infamous First Light at 148W on OG PS4, 155W on PS4 Pro on a 4k TV, and 80W on PS4 Slim.

I came to the same conclusion: as a PC gamer first I couldn't justify the higher cost of the Pro when I'm running it on a 1080p TV and won't be buying PSVR. The Pro has the same lousy cpu as in the Slim (with a 30% higher clock), so you're not going to see games running on Pro at 60 fps very often. Though I bought mine with Uncharted 4 for about half the price of the Pro + Uncharted 4, which made the Slim completely obvious for me. I'm not too worried about exclusives not being able to run 30 fps since most of them are made by Sony's own studios and thus heavily optimized for PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn runs at a steady 30 fps for example. I know it sucks compared to a steady 60 fps on PC, but I'd rather play a great game at 30 fps than a good one at 60 fps.

I have no will to buy a 4K TV so I opted for a used (albeit only 2 months old) PS4 Slim with UC4. Only buying it for the exclusives and mainly Japanese titles. It's not like you're really gonna drop the game because it dipped from 30 to 25 or 60 to 50fps. Some really good titles on PS4 like Kholat, Caladrius Blaze, The King of Fighters XIV, Final Fantasy XII (amg) and the new Hideo Kojima game Death Stranding (If it lives up to Kojimas usual standards). You could buy a Switch and laugh at Zelda dipping into the low 20's, theirs always that option too.
