The Ryzen 7 1800X has been OC'd to a whopping 5.8GHz

So, as you might know, Ryzen 7 1800X is a solid performer at a good price. But, in some areas, it can't keep up with the 6900K.

But don't ya worry! Extreme overclocker der8auer has a fix 4 ya! He managed to OC Ryzen 7 1800X to 5.8GHz by liquid nitrogen on all 8 cores, with a CPU bus of 130.4MHz and x44.5 multiplier for a frequency of 5802.93MHz.

He was really aggresive on voltage, setting it to 1.97 volts, and to eleviate the early adoptors issue, he set the RAM to a mere 1217MHz.

It's obvious that this is not a daily driver, especially at those voltages, but I think it's really cool nonetheless.

I wouldn't expect any less from der8auer, he is one of the best overclockers in the world. I am curious to see what the average overclock this and the 1700x get to on a full custom loop though.

What does this mean for us generic people? Could we archive 4.x GHz for daily use? I am also curious how the ipc improved.

IPC doesn't improve from overclocking, just the frequency; only the manufacturer can realistically modify the instruction set of chips, not overclockers.

Then I shall correct myself and ask for single core performance.

5.8GHz on all 8 cores is pretty ridiculous.  Wasn't the previous high in the last month or so 5.1GHz?

Hi Guys

just saw this article accidentally .

I have no plan to build X370 OC formula for AM4 so far , AMD's binary source code limited lots possibility of overclocking .

But X370 Taichi is good for cpu clocking and 24/7 for sure .

X299 Oc formula will be next target .

Already posted? And it's LN2 so cool but yeah. Would be nice to see what people achieve on water.

And yet it sucks a rhino's dick when it comes to overclocking on water.

I'm also in general "who gives a fuck" about all LN2 / single core overclocking. Means nothing, complete waste of time.

But but but I thought AMD limited overclocking!?

Even though it's on exotic cooling, this means very good things for a very good AIO or custom loop, once companies roll out mounting hardware for it anyway.

I'm very curious what a custom look with a 360 rad would achieve. Hell, I'm curious what a good thick 240 with good fans would do.

Do you even fanboy bro?
