So I was going to RMA my ASUS IX Hero cause it started going bonkers on me. Well I accidentally bent like 4 of the socket pins, gonna try to straighten them out. If NewEgg doesnt accept the RMA, then I am going to have to buy a new motherboard lol. So what are some suggestions? It needs to be able to handle overclocking, and it needs an NVME spot. Also it needs to not be dumb like my IX Hero went.

What was your Hero doing wrong?

It kept telling me there was a "MB Temperature Error" when I would try to boot it up. TSensor1 was showing 127c, and nothing on my motherboard was that hot lol. Just randomly started doing it. Had to go into the bios each time and "discard changes and exit". Was crazy.

That's right, I replied to that thread.  That's definitely covered by warranty or RMA back to retailer, but neither will happen with bent pins.  No big deal.  Just send it to me and I'll put it to use.  xD

why would you want a broken board lol?

I have an extra 7700k that does 5.3 GHz, but has temp sensor that got knocked out of calibration similar to what happened to your motherboard temp sensor.  It's a shame because the it's a beast of a processor.  It still works perfectly and still runs at the same speed, but one core is reporting a higher temp then the rest.  Luckily, because it's delidded and cooled well, that sensor is never high enough to trigger throttling.

Your slightly cripple board + my slightly crippled 7700k are a perfect match.  :D

I'm just glad I was able to find another 5.3 chip.

I need advice on a good new motherboard. Also would an i7 4790 work in the Z270 board?

Hell no.

I have an Asus ROG Maximus IX Formula and it's pretty damn awesome.  The Code would be the same thing, but without the VRM waterblock.

I also have some cool RGB LED strips, so the motherboard would need a header for that lol. I dont think I am going to be going with ASUS though.

Understandable.

Just make sure you hook me up.  xD
