How long will the 1080ti max games at 1080P?

celpas

I am getting the 1080Ti and I want to play games at max settings. Will it be able to do that for at least 2 years?

Are you seriously considering a GTX 1080 Ti to play at 1080p resolution??

Yes because 1070 has trouble maxing games like Dishonored 2,Watch Dogs 2 and maintaining 60 fps. The 1080 is year old performance and it does have trouble with certain games just like 1070 and I dont think it will keep up once Vega releases. The Ti is 35% faster and using my Amazon gift card I am getting one at 650. I dont think its overkill because eveyone thought the 780ti was overkill but its a 1080p card now. I am also planning a 144hz monitor purchase

The issue is that game engines are getting more and more efficient, but code and graphics are getting more and more complex it is hard to tell where usage will go.

Only if they stay at MSRP; Nvidia said they will (stay at MSRP) but laws of supply and demand, and Nvidia's lack of control over retailers say otherwise if there is too high of a demand.

For years to come, I can't make my Titan XP fail to max out anything on 2560x1080p with fast sync at 75hz, The Witcher, Deus Ex etc...

Damn I really need a 4k tv to replace Toshiba Regza 40inch 1080p, Life is strange max out msaa 8x and I could still get like 200fps in it... I have been using fast sync a lot though to keep the fan running and the card makes barely no sound which is cool.

I imagine it'll easily be capable of doing that but you can't always be 100% sure because who knows maybe the next year or the year after games will evolve so fast that it'll be outdated.

4k will be standard before

I'm just gonna stick with my  1680x1050 monitor until I can get a 4k one for 150€. And 1080ti will max games at 1080p practically until it dies.

I would say just stick with a 1080 when Nvidia's price cut takes effect, save ~$200 to use on other components.

It will but it's not worth at all to buy it for 1080p

4k at 150 euro ? never gonna happen.

Even this day and age a decent 1080p is 200 euro

Let's agree to disagree

You'll be fine for quite some time. You can even turn the game's settings to use Super Sampling for extra crispy pixel sharpness with a 1080Ti on 1080p. Or not, and just go for 144fps/144hz minimum at all times probably. Maybe even a bit of Super Sampling there.

Either way you're good :).

Damn right. That's why I'm just gonna stick with my 1680x1050, because it is good enough.

I am guessing that a 1080 Ti will be able to run games a max settings at 1080p until games start requiring DX13 or require more than 11GB of VRAM.

Unless you are talking about Crysis. In that case, nothing currently can run that nor will anything ever be able to. :P

But then again i went from 24* 1080p to 27* 1440p 144hz ips freesync for 500 euro so

Im in the same boat. I will proparly buy the gtx 1080ti after its released proparly. And if my i7 4770k bottlenecks too hard on it at 1080p 120hz i will be getting a 1440p 144hz Monitor. Just depends how fast i can hit that 120 fps in most games. Ive heard people with my same CPU getting bottlenecked at even 1440p with a pascal titan x but until i actually see my fps in game and check out my CPU stats and GPU stats whilst playing demanding games at Max settings i cant comment if thats true or not.
