How does this site now the cost of apples in-house made chips and parts, they have no idea how much it costs Apple to buy those chips, let alone the engineering cost, just because a small website says that ONE DEVICE had a 500% markup doesn’t mean it’s true. 
 

Apple actually only takes a 36% profit margin overall, so you “500%”  BS only applys on a singular device, even then that sights costs are only estimations on Apple in house chips

For IHS, they base it on the the specs of the chip, process node, and then determining how much it would cost to have a chip fab (e.g., if you wanted TSMC to manufacture it for you).

 

 

In terms of BOM cost, this is a trusted company,and for full cost breakdowns (they go down to the silicon level, and estimate costs to the chip fab), they are currently the largest company on the planet that specializes in this.
