Besides CSGO, the benefits of a 144Hz monitor are useless on a 1060 3GB.

Use any generic DisplayPort cable if you really want to waste money on a 144Hz monitor with a GPU that can't really handle it...

A 1060 can't handle 144Hz? I thought Pascal was supposed to be better than Maxwell...mine runs 144Hz beautifully in almost every game I own. Forgive my ignorance but I am actually curious.

The 1060 is very capable. It is more powerful than the GTX 980!

3 GB Vram, check your vram usage when you up your frames. Also your signature indicates a 980 Ti, that is better than a 1060 6 GB >_< The problem people have with a 3 GB 1060 is the poor excuse of 3 GB Vram on the card, a lot of games maxed out in 1080p use around or over 4 gb Vram and for those specific titles he will suffer in fps loss

That doesn't mean that performance is much worse though.... It is only 5% or so slower....

No that is not what I'm saying, it can handle it pretty ok in most titles, but some games won't hit close to 144 Hz GTA V for example will perform around 7 fps below a 6 GB version so it'll be at around 80 fps

Yeah, I know, he just shouldn't expect GTA V at around 100 fps

it's not worth it if you have the 3gb version already just stick with it. however if you plan on going higher resolutions the 3gb will start to become a bigger bottleneck, see mirror's edge on Hyper settings @ 1080p for instance here you can see that it is drawn to its knees because of the shortage of Vram
