That should be good for your needs. Gigabyte is a amazing motherboard maker so i wouldn't be afraid of getting one from them. you may need to update the bios of that motherboard though. And if you really want asus just get one of them for the x79 side.

I like this one better, but want to keep the air 540 case. I also want asus motherboards only. I already own windows so don't need another copy. how is this?

One thing I keep seeing on this list is that you are putting the most expensive things in some areas when there may be just as good or better at a lower price.

Motherboards

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128562

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130681

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131855

I don't find that Asus Sabertooth any better then these 3 I think and they are cheaper. These boards I think have some things that the Asus one doesn't like support for faster ram. Plus the Asus Sabertooth has a small fan which those r annoyingly loud. Personally I like the Gigabyte one. The Asus is blue which would match the blue LED fan u are getting.

Ram

Different ram that is faster or same speed that is either about the same price or cheaper but a couple r more expensive because they are faster. You can stick with what you picked.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231710

Power Supply These are 800 or 850 watts that are very good yet 50 or more dollars cheaper.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171057

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171077

Storage space

DO NOT get the WD Scorpio Black 500gb hard drive. That is for a notebook/laptop not for a desktop. Unless you need that for a laptop/notebook.

If you are looking for a 500gb HDD that is fast get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236345 and then you would use the Seagate for mass storage. I do not know if you ment to get that notebook HDD or not.

So I really would like to know what you are going to do with your storage in you desktop. If you are going to use the SSD for the OS and two other HDD for storage then I would suggest then just getting 250gb for SSD. But if the notebook HDD is for your notebook then have a 3t as mass storage and 500gb ssd for OS and some storage is a good idea. You could still go with 250gb Samsung 840 EVO as well in either situation.

DVD/CD burner

I would suggest getting an internal one instead of an external but again you might need an external for a ultrabook or something. You could buy both if you need it for an external as well. Internal would be faster n better.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135305

Graphics Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487002 I would not suggest paying 30 more dollars just for the "superclocked" card. It really won't make a difference esspecially if you overclock the card yourself. That's really what they did to the card. You are paying 30 bucks more for it to be clocked slightly higher at stock. It's not worth it at all. Just buy the $699.99 card and overclock it.

Case

I would just simply like to know what kind of case and features are you interested in and why did you pick the case you did? Maybe I could find another case that you may like more possibly.

I really like that case, I do need the laptop drives to go in the rear 2.5in bays in said case. With that many drives, I use up all the sata ports on my mobo so external dvd drive and card reader, I like seasonic psu or corsair rebrand of seasonic. Dont care about color or anything like that (any mobo/gpu will work). I will go for the 780Ti (non superclocked).

I thought about going that rout, but as I have a limited budget, and only work in 1080p, I think I would be better served by a 23" ips and 2 tn 23" plus my current 23"tn. Knowing that, what do you think?

Haha, 'limited'

You have quite a hefty budget. Getting some nice displays should be no problem.

So what kind of videos are you editing? How heavy is the editing? Programs you are using?

Do you need a copy of Windows or mouse/kb/speakers/etc?

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
