Everything is working but the screen

Cav3Johnson

The title says it all pretty much. I just finished upgrading my pc with a new psu and gpu, everything is wired up and running, but my monitor wont turn on. I think might be the connection cord (ive got a dvi connector with my gou, but because i dont have a dvi cable, im using a gva cable which is connected to my motherboard instead). I was told that i could connect the screen to the motherboard and have it work, but that seems to not be the case, am i correct?

also, my new gpu gets the fan spinning for about 3 seconds, stops, and 5 seconds later starts again for 3 seconds, stops and 5 seconds later starts again. Is that normal?

You will need to use the graphics card's ports. Otherwise ur Monitor will run off the Integrated GPU (if you have one, otherwise it will not show a thing) and you will not be benefitting from ur GPU u bought.
