Looking for best Display cable for gaming

I am using a 144hz aoc monitor...

I went to my friends housr who ownes the same monitor and the same pc but has a smoother experience. We both have a gtx 1060 6gb vram w/ and i7 6700k. I am looking to find the best type of cable for a smooth gaming experience to have an advantage over other players. The input connectors my monitor is cable of using is 15-pin D-Sub, 24pin DVI, HDMI, MHL and DP. I don't mind spending a bit of money on it.

What resolution? I'm assuming 1440p or 1080p with a 1060 but...

Just get the cheapest dual link dvi cable, or hdmi cable you can find. Premium digital cables can't give you a "better" quality image compared to a cheap cable.

I would personally go with DP just because. :D

Just buy a regular dp cable, doesn't need to be $40 even a $20 cable would be fine.

What cable is your friend using?

 

As long as you're using a digital cable: HDMI, DVI, or DisplayPort (DP), then it literally won't matter.

 

Any differences in "smoothness" are likely due to software differences or one OS being more cluttered then the other.

Displayport and just to check have you actually successfully configured 144hz on your end?
