What upgrade should I choose?

BMGHD

So I am planning a PC upgrade, I have 2 ways I could go. The graphics card, or the rest. I have $650 USD to spend and at first I was thinking this http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Xaviersykora/saved/2JsS . But then I was wondering if my AE renders would be just as quick if I used cuda and got a new PSU and a GTX 780. So what should I choose?

My current specs.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700

Radeon HD 5570

ABit AB9-Pro

8GB 534 MHz RAM

500GB Barracuda(Boot drive)

1TB WD Green Partitioned 1/2 and 1/2

Old Dynex 400w that will burn my house down one day.

Build the entire new system. However, with the build you posted, it would only use the iGPU  on the 4770k.

I would go with the build overhaul, you can always add the 780 later, plus the core 2 duo would probably bottleneck it.

i9 25.6 GHz with NeuronThreading, 256gb 6000 MHz RAM, GTX 990 OC 3024MHz 12gb, Skeletal X99 motherboard, 1 Petabyte SSD, Fractal Design Humaniod R1 Case, Herbivore 10,000W PSU, Noctua NF16 LP Derma Cooler.

Probably the only Star Citizen player who is planning on a career in Journalism instead of piracy, mining, trading, exploration, military, station management, etc.

Generation 0: The first time you see this add 1 to the number and copy it into your sig. Consider it a social experiment.

If I was to get a 260 dollar graphics card I would get a 760 for cuda. Also I am going to go intel because I am going to put it into a mini-itx system.

still looking for advice

The consensus is a new build. Getting a single part solution will likely cause a substantial bottleneck.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
