The game's soundtrack.

Just like with movies, my choices in video games are partly based on the soundtrack quality. And I often end up downloading the soundtrack of games I really enjoyed.

In a competitive game where the music is not important and often repetitive, I listen to SomaFM radios. SomaFM is an ad-free webradio with some pretty good background music, specially Groove Salad. The dubstep radio is fun, I currently listen to the 'Secret Agent' one, there is some pretty good remix of spies songs.

Umm, what game doesn't require game sounds other than MMO's? Any FPS I use game sound, you're at a significant disadvantage if you choose to do otherwise, especially during online scenarios. Any game, where I care about the story, I use game sounds. Unless I'm playing a game with an open world, like GTA or during end-game on Farcry 3, I use game sounds.

..the music of the game? Lol. I do appreciate games having good soundtrack though. I liked Deus Ex's, Far Cry 3's and Crysis' (2) soundtrack a lot.

I feel like burning weed :D

The only time i listen to my own music is when i play MP online, last time i played BF online i noticed that i was kicking so much ass when i played my own music, consisting of dirty beats such as stuff from Neelix, Deadmau5 and all that kind of stuff, no Squirrelex as i feel like i just can't the hang of dubstep just yet... I feel old as i prefer my usual stuff i always listen to for years.

Anyway i noticed as i was using my own music i must have been a lot more relaxed and i was just doing really really well playing MP.

Depends. If it's an FPS I'll listen to Chopin while screaming "There was a fire fight!" If it's LoL I'll play a little dubstep or house music for the concentration factor, and the fact that it make me want to break things. If its an RPG like Skyrim I'll listen to Iron Maiden or Megadeath for that authentic 1980's bad hair metal video feel.
