1070 and i7 4790k

i am building my first gaming pc and wanted to know if a gtx 1070 and a i7 4790k would work well together

Yes. They will work fantastically. (I have 1070 and 3770, and it performs great)

When in doubt, re-format.

The combination will work great.

 

Dont cheap out on the cpu cooler though. 4770K ran hotter but you will have a better experience if you use a quality cooler and not, say, the stock one

Using a 1080 with my 4790k. Havent tried it again with a lower overclock but I'm sure your setup will work.

 

Bought mine new a few months ago too. Don't feel like wasting more money on another board and ram.
