1070 Not preforming as it should?

JTB7

I have had some things with my card, not preforming as well as I think it should, for example battlefield one at 1080-scaled 200%(1440p right) is only getting me 35-45 fps.  Coult there be a bottleneck?  I have a i5 6500, and 8gb of ram.  I have had similar issues with some other games.  Could it be that I am on a hard drive and not solid state?  I am thinking about doing a full reset on my pc, because it has been about a year since I built it, would that help?  I only have games stored on hear, so I wouldn't lose anything important.

You need more than 8GB of RAM for BF1. I'm seeing usage around 7GB when playing most of the maps.

You should test framerates at 1080p without upscaling, and other ones.

200% upscaling on 1080p is actually about 2715 x 1527, so a bit bigger than 1440p. And look at BF1 numbers for the 1070 in 1440p:

Still, any 1070 manages 80-90 fps in 1440p, so look for thermal throttling.

(reference your numbers from here https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1070_Quick_Silver_OC/8.html)

Maybe you did tho upscaling in such a way that it's actually upscaling to 400% which is 4K, if you take a look, your framerate numbers make sense for that res.

Why do you have 8GB RAM with a GTX 1070? You should have bought 16GB. And why do you have an i5-6500? You should have paired it with an i7-6700.

42% scaling is native screen resolution in BF1.

it's 100% now...42% was in the beta.

Good thing they fixed that. That shit was dumb in the beta. Really random.

I didn't know that they changed it to a more sensible 100%. But yes I did read that he said 200%. That is why I mentioned what I thought was native scaling

native is 100% which is 1920x1080 OP is rendering at 200% so they do twice the vertical and twice the horizontal lines so this makes it 3840x2160 which is 4K...that"s why he is rendering at 40FPS on a GTX 1070.

yes I know. that is why I pointed out the native resolution setting. a 1070 is never going to make lots of FPS at 4K

best settings for 1080p and GTX 1070 would probably be all ultra settings with 120 or 130% scalling somewhere in there.

yes...if the monitor is 120hz or more then i would leave scalling to 100%...maybe 105% if the CPU is holding back a bit or something..
