Should i have 2 antivirus programs on my Mac?

So i formatted my mac because i had performance issues and after i reinstalled el capitan i installed malwarebytes and then avast, should i keep them both or will there be a significant performance hit? I play CS on my mac so i'm wondering if there would be a fps hit and also a hit to battery life. If i were to remove one of them i would be removing malwarebytes.

Keep malwarebytes, uninstall Avast.

You lose active protection by uninstalling it, but Macs aren't that easy to fuck up so

idk

What kind of content? If you're pirating games, then be careful (I don't recommend it personally)

Music usually, and the occasional movie. Also pornhub and shit has a lot of pop ups so would it be wise to have no antivirus?

You should be fine. Get Ublock Origin for your browser (chrome or whatever) and it blocks everything, even those popunder shits

idk

Hi,

I use avast on my PC and I have found it to be useful when downloads come up when I don't want them, it blocks them often and explains problems however most antiviruses in general will slow down a PC however it is often a good sacrifice. You are however less likely to have problems using a mac, malware bytes, provided you do a scan every so often should be ok, avast will sometimes block downloads from said "questionable sources" and so it may be worth removing it however I would recommend taking care. Furthermore, you can always use thinks like blockers and check url's for sites as they could be fake, therefore do take care when doing things.

Hope this helps

The fanboys are claiming that, but surely not apple or anyone who knows anything about computers in general.

Ironically, you are probably more likely to get a virus on a mac, as basically everyone has an antivirus on a PC (even if it's only Windows Defender), but most macs are unprotected!

I have no idea why people recommend Avast it's not exactly the greatest, I have used I remember once on my first computer about 11 years ago I installed avast and the whole system just wouldn't boot.

I suddenly thought that Avast must of detected windows as a virus lol.

Jokes aside I was always told running two antivirus programs is a bad idea, as they can conflict with each other
