The problem with those 1/4 million muricans, is they think the recall does not apply to them. They're most likely those who don't obey orders during a traffic stop and gets beat down instead of a ticket or friendly warning. Then they start to sue. Let them keep their note7, and when something happens, instead of them suing. The gov't should fine them for not obeying orders and for carrying a potential explosive device that can harm themselves and the public. Maybe that will teach them, that they're not exclusive individuals.

i'd keep the note 7 after flashing a rom and replacing the battery with the one for an S7

But no seriously I hate Samsung. I used to love them, but now they are just the greedy Apple of android. The whole thing happened because they were trying to make it thinner and lighter. Why? Every enthusiast doesn't want thinner, and most consumers wouldn't notice if there phone is a mm thicker or not. Now the s8 is rumored to remove the headphone jack? What? And besides TouchWiz is an abomination, I can't stand it. I'd get a Pixel XL, OnePlus 3T, Moto Z Force, or HTC 10 if I wanted a high-end phone. My OnePlus 3 is perfect so far.

 

I don't see an end to removing the headphone jack so Samsungs approach is much easier to adapt to. USB C instead of lightning is way better

Well yeah but they are both dumb. Apple's problem is that want the world to convert to USB C, but they also can't take they hands out of peoples pockets for Lightning. And they don't add enough USB C ports so the joke is on them. The fact is if you want to remove the headphone jack, at least put to USB C ports so you can listen to music and charge your phone. Admit it, it would be dope if your phone had to USB ports.

Well no, the fires happened on not more than 100 units. Out of millions of devices, 100 isn't that bad for defective units. I understand better safe than sorry, but there's a chance that nothing will happen and there's a rather small chance that something would happen. If anything, Samsung isn't legally obligated if something does happen just like when a gun is used in a mass murder the manufacturer or vendor of the product is not liable to legal action.

 

I know a phone is different since it's not exactly intended to potentially hurt or kill people. They hopefully wouldn't try to bring it on an airplane.

I don't think the government should do that either.
