my cpu is really holding my 670 up :(. here is it on the edge of stability

same cpu and clocks as last time

gpu was at 1228/1675

a score of 1665

Now that's what I call a bottleneck :o

I see that your 670 PE has the same low clocks as mine.

yeah it's not a very good clocker at all. it sits a 60-65c with no extra voltage and 5% more power at 1215mhz perfectly stable in everything apart from f@h, i can get it to run 1/2 of heaven and valley at 1246mhz, but it can never do the full thing without crashing even if i give it all the power and all the voltage. i can go higher on the memory, but that gave me less points so i left it at +350.

I noticed some stability improvements going from Afterburner 2.3.1 to 3.0.0 Beta 17, managed to get it stable at +70 on the core instead of just ~50.

It's ironic that a overclocking grade GPU doesn't get nowhere near the performance of some reference 670s. Damn silicone lottery, why you so random.

i'll try the beta afterburner because i am still using 2.3.1. i was quite surprised how badly it overclocked when it has so many options for voltages and tweaking. it's almost as if msi have unlocked loads, but not picked and tested good gpu's to put in them, its a waste of a decent cooler and bios if you ask me, there will be some poor beastly gpu out there stuck at 80c under a reference cooler that could have done 1300mhz with the set up that you get on the pe. :(

my two 560 overclock really really well the one problem though is heat, when they get to 100C they downclock which is understandable but if i had a better cooler i would have it stable on 1000/2250 all the time, stock is 810/2005

Looks like a reference type design, i'm not suprised they get toasty in sli. Up to 1ghz is a decent overclock though

Not the greatest, but I haven't touched the voltage yet. The stock processor could be a factor, too.

Afterburner Voltage Mod (1.300v) @ Disabling LLC grants another .025v

I can push the voltages up to 1.4v - But I'm running all my benches on air currently while my friend has my water Titan.

another 290x on the top 30, I am having trouble overclocking mine, I have it on my watercooling loop so temps never hit higher then 50 ish. also my CPU can be holding it back a bit.

Can you say which voltages are bad on air for Kepler GPUs? I don't want to fry my gpu before getting a new one.

After the voltage mod I may be able to push 2100 points (already got a screen with >2030)

Well personally i can run 1.3v on my Titan with temperatures hovering between 75-85c.

I wouldn't suggest anything higher due to the VRMS.

But that's just me.

On air I'd personally keep voltages below 1.3V and really more like 1.25V unless you have good active airflow over the VRM's.  Overheating your VRM's is the biggest risk you have in running overvolted on air.  Certainly people have been running higher than those voltages on air but if it were my $1k Titan I wouldn't risk it.  Both of mine are water cooled including VRM's and even I won't run more than 1.3V with LLC disabled...

The shame of being below Akula's single Titan was too great, so I spent some time overclocking my 7990 a bit further.
