New GTX 1050Ti 4GB or used GTX 960 4GB

Senzelian

Hey guys,

it's late, I'm tired and therefor too lazy to think.
So, someone please help me to decide between a...

  • New GTX 1050Ti 4GB (~150€)
  • Used GTX 960 4GB (~100 - 150€) (Not sure what I can get it for, got a friend who might sell me his card for 100€)

It'll just be used for 1080p gaming on a high refresh monitor (120 / 144Hz)
Thanks!

1050 Ti is some 10% faster. But if you can get a 960 for 100E, that's also not bad. Both OC pretty great anyway but I find that OCing Maxwell can be more fun than OCing Pascal.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

1050ti is just a little slower but it is newer so I would pick the 1050ti.

Thanks for posting complete sentences - not like the other guys.
But what is actually faster now? xD

1050ti and 960 are really similar, they'll perform better/worse game to game. I'd choose the 1050TI for lower power requirements, and overall newer architecture.

as long as your power supply has connectors for a GTX 960 it would be a good choice if you bought it for cheap.

Personal build >  New-ish AMD main gaming setup

PLEASE QUOTE OR @ ME FOR A RESPONSE xD

Check out the review over at TechPowerUp instead of trusting me :P

As you can see the 1050 Ti is faster but not enough to justify paying 50% more imo, and you can OC that 960 anyway to close the gap or match it if you're lucky.

Then I'll just wait and see what I can get the 960 for. For 100€ I'll take it, but if he wants more I'll simply buy a 1050Ti.

1050 Ti is a bit faster and uses no power connectors. 960's core can't fully utilize the full 4GB of VRAM, which is why I am not recommending it.

What's the price difference there between the GTX 1050 Ti and the GTX 1060 6gb?

Unless it artifacts to crap at +47MHz on the core. The 960 is, in my experience, a crappy overclocker.

The 750 Ti, on the other hand...

I wouldn't take those numbers to heart as they don't specify 2GB vs 4GB models.
